Finnish Death Metal trio DESOLATE SHRINE will release new album "Deliverance from the Godless Void" November 10 on Dark Descent Records. The album's opening track, "The Primordial One," is streaming at https://youtu.be/4q2Ua5RV-pI
It may be DESOLATE SHRINE's fourth album (third on Dark Descent Records) in six years, but the band shows no sign of fatigue on their newest opus. The band continues to erase the already thin line existing between black, death and doom and once again come out of the abyss with their own instantly recognizable style.
Recorded during 2016 with the same core trio since 2011's debut Tenebrous Towers, this new beast, while no less epic than its predecessors (three of the seven songs featured here are at over eight minutes long) is even more textured and tortured while at the same time highly atmospheric. And while a track like "Unmask the Face of False" may be the heaviest and slowest they've ever done, that doesn't prevent "Demonic Evocation Prayer" from being transfigured by hellish blast beats either. Still, as with each of their albums, DESOLATE SHRINE's latest full-length is to be considered like one big entity, almost like a ceremony if you will, one that demands to be experienced from beginning to end without interruption.

Existem nomes no cenário que sempre causam um tumulto quando lançam algo novo. Mesmo no underground, alguns nomes notórios tem um enorme apelo junto aos fãs. Especialmente quando falamos em Black Metal, poucas bandas causam tanta excitação como o grupo grego ROTTING CHRIST. E em uma iniciativa toda da Heavy Metal Rock, chega a nossas mãos a compilação “Abyssic Black Cult”, totalmente nacional e que tem alguns trabalhos antigos da banda que ainda são inéditos por aqui.
No caso, “Abyssic Black Cult” trás em si as Demos “Satanas Tedeum” de 1989 (5 canções), “Ade’s Wind” de 1992 (2 canções) e “Snowing Still”, uma Promo da banda de 1995 (3 canções). Esse material, embora não seja de todo novo, são raros e de difícil aquisição. E a Heavy Metal Rock bancou o desafio e criou esta compilação. Sim, ela é exclusiva do Brasil, não possui versão importada. E uma vantagem extra: como as Demos estão no CD em ordem cronológica, podemos perceber como o grupo foi evoluindo de algo cru e tenebroso (e com certa influência do Death Metal) para algo mais elaborado e bem feito, mas ainda sinistro e atmosférico, sem perder sua essência.
Obviamente, a qualidade sonora é bem crua no material de “Satanas Tedeum” e “Ade’s Winds”, e melhora em “Snowing Still”. Óbvio que a compreensão do que a banda está tocando não fica comprometida pela qualidade da gravação, mesmo porque esse material todo é do final dos anos 80 e da primeira metade dos anos 90, quando o acesso a gravações de ponta era custeado em parte (ou totalmente) por gravadoras independentes. E estamos falando de uma banda pioneira de Black Metal, uma das primeiras a ter um contrato com um grande selo (no caso, a Century Media, que se a idéia deste autor está certa, foi conseguido pelo Promo “Snowing Still”). Mas voltando a falar da gravação, se não é perfeita, é honesta e transparece o que a banda pôde fazer naqueles tempos.
A arte é um atrativo à parte. E capa é uma gravura da “Divina Comédia”, já bem conhecida, mas o encarte possui as letras e artes de cada uma das Demos devidamente adaptada, bem fiéis ao que já conhecemos (especialmente a de “Satanas Tedeum”, que muitos conhecem a arte do CD prensado, e não a original em Tape). Inclusive a arte de “Snowing Still” foi usada em versões mais atuais de “Triarchy of the Lost Lovers”.
Musicalmente, o ROTTING CHRIST mostra em cada trabalho como é capaz de evoluir, mas mantendo sua fidelidade às suas raízes musicais. Mesmo nos primeiros passos, em 1989, já dava sinais que chegaria ao ano de 1995 mais evoluído, e consensual com tudo que eles fizeram musicalmente. Esse material é cru e bem agressivo, mas já mostra a aura mórbida e enegrecida do grupo.
Em “Satanas Tedeum”, a sonoridade é evidentemente crua, com a banda ainda carregando muitas influências de Death/Black Metal dos anos 80, embora as linhas melódicas soturnas que moldarão o conhecido “Athenian Black Metal” já estejam claras em “Feast of the Grand Whore”, “The Nereid of Esgalduin” e em “The Sixth Communion”. Já em “Ade’s Wind”, surge aquela sonoridade mais mórbida e climática que serão conhecidas nos discos iniciais da banda, especialmente o “Thy Mighty Contract”, uma vez que “Fgmenth, Thy Gift” e “The Fourth Knight of Revelation (1 & 2)” farão parte do disco em versões mais bem acabadas (sim, existem pequenas diferenças que podem ser notadas nessas versões mais cruas). Já as canções de “Snowing Still” mostram uma musicalidade mais coesa e limpa, com melodias mais próximas ao Heavy Metal tradicional que afloram no “Triarchy of the Lost Lovers”, tanto que as canções “Snowing Still”, “One With The Forest” e “The Opposite Bank” fazem parte do disco (embora não cheguem a ser hinos para os fãs do grupo, como o são “King of a Stellar War”e “The First Field of the Battle”). Repetindo: em “Abyssic Black Cult”, você realmente tem uma visão ampla do quanto o ROTTING CHRIST evoluiu com o tempo, bem como foi importante para construir a sonoridade do Black Metal grego.
Desta forma, tanto por ser algo exclusivo para o mercado brasileiro como pela importância histórica, e pelo ineditismo dessas Demo Tapes no Brasil, “Abyssic Black Cult” é um disco obrigatório.

Originally started as a death metal quartet in the crypt of Dhaka, Bangladesh, NEKROHOWL was formed a year ago by the members of acclaimed local acts like Abominable Carnivore, Dissector, Enmachined and Homicide. A death evoking, rotten sounding rehearsal demo was soon manifested, which was followed by an oversea live annihilation on the other side of the Bengal — Kolkata, India. With the vilest form of sound and high-powered live performances, they have marked their place as a formidable force in the realm of South Asian extreme metal music.
Earlier in the year, the band encountered with lineup issues, when the vocalist and drummer had to left the band, but that did not stop NEKROHOWL from blazing fiercely; Warmonger (Warhound, Ex: Orator) as a replacement in the position of drum-hammering and Obliterator taking over the charge of vocal duty turned them as a power trio, and this incident marks a significant step forward for the band. Climbing to the peak of their powers with this monstrous lineup, the bestial trio embarked on a mini-tour, named as “Agonize and Excruciate Tour 2017”, to support Japanese death metal maestro Desecravity at their Dhaka, Kolkata and Shilong live dates.
Debut EP “Epitome of Morbid” is undeniably the most anticipating metal release from the country. With 05 tracks (including an intro), clocking in at around 20 minutes, the EP incorporates the captivating intricacy of Suffocation, sheer gruesomeness of Autopsy, belligerent tone of Immolation, vitriolic intensity of Morbid Angel, demon invoking power of Hellhammer, and malefic darkness of Dead Congregation. The song structures clearly demonstrate the members’ sole object of the exercise, and it is nothing but to play the hard-hearted form of death metal music. Whereas many contemporary old school rooted extreme metal bands from the subcontinent fail to sustain the primitive atmosphere because of the production, NEKROHOWLhas cautiously maintained that dark, rotten vibe of old school death metal within these tracks.
Limited number of copies of the EP will be released locally in digipak format, which will be followed by cassette issue from Malaysian label Diabolicurst Productions, and cd, cassette and vinyl release from American label Slaugherhouse Records. An EP launching gig will take place in Dhaka during the local digipak release date on 30thSeptember, 2017.

DARK WATERS END takes progressive death metal to a level that makes you think twice about nodding your head in standard timing. This eclectic group of musicians teeter on the boundary of what many in the Philadelphia area describe as technical metal, but without the need for a scientific calculator. Their music consists of an all-embracing range of metal, from a variety of influences to create a very dynamic and progressive sound.
DARK WATERS END has a sound that can range from beautifully-haunting to terrifying in a matter of minutes. Influences from bands such as Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and The Faceless inspire the band to approach metal from all angles and can be aggressive, peaceful, and brutal all within a single song. Additionally, influences from bands such as The Contortionist and Between the Buried and Me have paved the way for the band to incorporate atypical melodies and provide a robust blend of progressive metal.

The band began its current formation in 2012 with vocalist John William, guitarist Elijah Masiko, drummer Ian McGarry and bassist Chris Williams. It's at this time that the band truly developed and defined their sound. In 2014 lead-guitarist Ian Wright joined the band, bringing a most sought after dynamic. Since then the band has recorded their debut EP "Rat King" released in early 2016, and most recently completed their first and much anticipated full-length Submersion.
The hard work, dedication, and determination of DARK WATERS END has allowed them to share the stage with acts such as Candiria, Car Bomb, Psyopus and Ion Dissonance.
